Mr. Ben Ransome,Sr. Obituary Mr. Ben (Spook) Ransome, Sr., 84, died November 15, 2008. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 12 noon at the St. Luke Church of Christ in Princeville with the Rev. Wayne Hines officiating. Burial will follow in the Dancy Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Hattie Sharpe Ransome of the home; three daughters, Rosa Thorne of Brooklyn, N.Y., Lillie Worsley and Earlene Jones both of Tarboro; four sons, James Carlton Kearney of Henderson, James Ransome of Tarboro, Lewis Ransome of Wilson, and Lonnie Whitehead of Greenville; two stepsons, Edward Sharpe of Upper Marlboro, MD, and John Sharpe of Princeville; 21 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren; and 1 sister, Mattie Whitaker of Tarboro.
