Mr. James Daniels Obituary Matawan, New Jersey Mr. James Edward Daniels, 83, died July 16, 2013 in Matawan, New Jersey. Graveside services will be held 11:00 am Thursday July 25, 2013 at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in the Dunbar Community. James was born on June 7, 1930 to Lottie Williams and James Manas in Dunbar, North Carolina. He attended elementary school in Dunbar and received his high school diploma in New York City. As a young boy he worked along side his mother and stepfather as a share cropper. In 1960 James, oldest son also name James was born. James served in the Army from 1951 until 1953 during the Korean War. After serving in the Army, James moved to New York City where he met and married Daisy Mae Whitehead in 1956. They were blessed with five children and were married until her death in 2005. Early in his career James worked as a short order cook and later worked on the maintenance staff of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. James eventually retired from the New York City Housing Authority as a Supervisor of grounds after twenty five years of service. James is survived by his three daughters; Beverly, Brenda and Lynette, three sons; James, Marvin and Rickey. Two sisters, two brothers, eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
