JAMES CLEVON DeLOATCH

Mr. James Clevon DeLoatch, son of the late James Luther DeLoatch and Addie Williams DeLoatch, departed this life on Saturday, April 23,2011. He was born on January 22, 1947 in Edgecombe County. He graduated from W. A. Pattillo High School in 1965. After graduation from high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served faithfully until his honorable discharge. James also served faithfully as a volunteer fireman for the Princeville Fire Department for many years.
Throughout his lifetime, he held employment in a number of areas including manufacturing and public works with the Town of Princeville but the most memorable of all of the professions he pursued was the construction profession. He was incredibly gifted in this area and his work still stands as a testament of that gift in the form of homes, churches and other structures in Edgecombe and surrounding counties. He truly was a master builder.
James joined the Highway Holiness Church under the leadership of the late John A. Williams many years ago and was an avid reader of the Bible. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Brenda L. DeLoatch; four daughters, Gretta DeLoatch of Princeville, Attorney Teresa DeLoatch Bryant (Kelvin) of Tarboro, Prophetess Angela Q.Staton (Donnell) of Raleigh and Crystal DeLoatch-Williams (Tavallis) of Tarboro; two sisters, Bernice DeLoatch and Elder Alice DeLoatch-Hinton (Jack) of Princeville; two brothers Oscar DeLoatch (Linda) and Clinton DeLoatch (Marian) of Tarboro; one aunt Maude DeLoatch of Hobgood; nine grandchildren, Jamail, Makia, Ayjah, Brenna, Karmen, A'Darius, D'Andrea, Cyrah and Tavallis, Jr.; two sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at C.B. Martin Middle School with the Bishop Michael DeLoatch officiating. Burial will follow in the Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held on Friday, April 29, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Dickens Funeral Service in Tarboro.
