Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 3, 2018 at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church highway 97, Leggett, North Carolina with Rev. Robert C. Farmer officiating. Burial will be held in the Dancy Cemetery, Princeville, N.C. He is survived by two daughters, Maxine Hinton (Clayton) Tarboro, N.C., Vickie Jones (Carter) Rocky Mount, N.C. and a son Michael Powell, Greenville, N.C., five sisters Lucy Jackson (Jeffrey) New York, Sylvia Powell, Pensacola, Fla. Marchelle Lawrence (Willliam),Tallahassee, Fla., Irma Cross (Floyd) Rocky Mount, N.C., and Betty Vanhook (McArthur) Durham, N.C. Two brothers George Powell (Virginia) Whitakers, N.C. and Calvin Powell (Patricia) Princeville, N.C., eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
