Mr. James Rogers,Sr. Obituary Mr. James Rogers,Sr.,90, of Rocky Mount (formerly of Enfield) died Monday, October 24, 2011. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 11:00 a.m. at the Mount Zion First Baptist Church (320 West Thomas Street) with the Rev. Eddie Wayne Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow in the Cedarview Cemetery in Enfield. Mr. Rogers retired as a Vocational Agriculture Teacher with the Halifax County Public School System. He is survived by his wife: Mary Thornton Rogers of the home, one daughter, Penelope Vaughan(Neuward) of Rocky Mount, two sons, James Rogers, Jr.(Monica) of Charlotte, William Plummer Rogers (Tiffany) of Whitsett, N.C., two granddaughters, Ivey Rogers and Claire Rogers, both of Charlotte, one brother, Louis H. Rogers (Ann) of Cleveland, Ohio, and a cousin, Will Ivey of Detroit, Michigan. The family will receive friends Friday 5 -7 p.m. at the H.D. Pope Funeral Home (325 Nash Street, Rocky Mount). These services have been entrusted to Dickens Funeral Service, Inc. of Tarboro.
