Mr. Joe Dickens, Jr. Obituary Speed, N.C. Mr. Joe W. Dickens, Jr., 60, manager of Dickens Funeral Service, Inc. died March 21, 2014. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, March 27, 2014 at the New Morning Star Church of Christ (225 South Glendale Ave.) Rocky Mount, NC, with the Rev. Joseph Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in the Cedar View Cemetery in Enfield, NC. He is survived by his wife, Olga Thornton Dickens of the home, his son, Joe W. Dickens, III and daughter, Jacqueline Dickens both of the home. Five sisters, Josie Cofield of Speed, NC; Martha Lathan of Tarboro, NC; Maxine Bryant of Seattle, Washington; Gwendolyn Shields of Greenville, NC and Robin Dickens of Fayetteville, NC. One brother Jeffrey Dickens of Tarboro, NC. Two sisters-in law, Matilda T. Lewter of Raleigh, NC and Patricia W. Thornton of Enfield, NC. Five brothers-in-law, James Cofield of Speed, NC; Oscar Lathan of Tarboro, NC; Stanley Thornton and Steve Thornton both of Enfield, NC and Joseph Lewter of Raleigh, NC. Three nieces, eight nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. He also leaves a dedicated and loving staff who will continue to serve families with the prompt, efficient and professional services that this community has always experienced with Dickens Funeral Service, Inc.
