Mr. Morris Obituary Mr. Morris Lee Vines (Skip), son of the late Mr. William Payton and Mrs. Ella Vines Taylor, grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Redmond McCannie Vines was born June 6, 1949 in Edgecombe County, North Carolina. He was called to rest on Saturday, August 9, 2008 at Pitt Memorial Hospital.
Skip was a 1967 graduate of Conetoe High School. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Army where he served a tour of duty in Vietnam. In 1972, he received a B.A.degree in Accounting from Rice University, Houston,TX and in 1980, he received a Master of Arts degree from Central Michigan University. Skip was employed for 32 years with the Federal Government and retired in 2001. He also worked as a Hospital Administrator for St. Elizabeth Hospital in Washington, DC.
Funeral services will be held Saturday 1 p.m. at the Conetoe Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Walter Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Princeville with military rites.

Vines of Nyack, NY; son: Matthew Carnell Jones of Greensboro, NC; one grandson, Aaron Omar Jones of Greensboro, NC; a very devoted companion, Rosa Joyner-Steele of Princeville, NC; three brothers: Robert Vines (Joyce) of Greenville, NC, Curtis Vines (Linda)of Winterville, NC, Walter Manning (Betty) of Bethel,NC, three sisters: Ethel Collier (Thurman), Annie Charles, Shirley Charles(Lindberg) all of Tarboro, NC; two step sisters: Mary Taylor of Brooklyn, NY, Gwendolyn T. Braswell(Ernest) of New Bern,NC; six step brothers: James Taylor (Irma), Garland Taylor, Wardell Taylor all of Greenville, NC, William Taylor (Lucy)and Herman Taylor both of Tarboro, NC, Willie Ray Taylor (Brenda) of Queens, NY; one aunt: Mamie V. White (Lee)of Tarboro, NC; two uncles: William Vines of Baltimore, MD and Charlie Vines(Elnora) of Louisa,VA; a friend: Carolyn Cooper of Conetoe, NC; eight nieces, six nephews, a special cousin: Thelma Pleasant of Tampa, FL and a host of other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held Friday, from 2-7 p.m. with the family receiving friends 7 -8 p.m. at Dickens Funeral Services, Inc. of Tarboro.
