Mr. Reuben Smith Obituary Tarboro, N.C. Mr. Reuben E. Smith,75,were born to the late Ned and Lillian Smith on December 23, 1938 in Edgecombe County and departed this life on April 4, 2014. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Friday April 11, 2014 at the Dickens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Claude Carr officiating. Family visitation will be one hour before the funeral service. Burial will follow in the Community Cemetery in Princeville. With Military Rites. He is survived by one son Marius N. Smith (Tammy)two grandchildren Jaleel and Zakiyah, one great granddaughter Jordan Sledge, one sister Rosa Haynes and one brother Charles M. Smith. Reuben was the eighth of nine children, six preceded him in death; Evelyn Holley, Lillian Pettaway, James Henry Smith, Mary McNeil, Carrie S. Collins and Ned Smith, Jr. One devoted nephew and guardian Abdullah Jihad and a host of nephews , nieces, cousins and friends. He served his country honorably as member of the 82nd airborne division during hostilities in the Dominican Republic and also as a member of the 1st air cavalry in Vietnam. He bravely battled many health issues until his warfare was over and he laid his amour by and moved on to his eternal home.
