Funeral services will be Saturday, October 27,2012 2:30 pm at the Mildred Chapel Baptist Church (1838 South Shiloh Farm Road) with the Rev. Stacey A. Evans officiating. Burial will follow in the Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn Dickens Shields of the home, one daughter, Krystle Shields of Greenville, NC, one son, Benjamin Shields, IV of Winterville, NC, six sisters, Sylvia Hanson of Rocky Mount, NC, Marie Wynder of Pennsylvania, Delores Hyman of Dunn, NC, Linda Shields Wilkins of Princeville, NC, Sandra Shields of Hobgood, NC and Eyvonne Knight of Raleigh, NC. Two brothers, Kenneth Shields of Nashville, NC and Johnny Shields of Knightdale, NC,stepfather Willie Hart of Hobgood,NC, one grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends.
