Mrs. Vera Smith Obituary Rocky Mount, N.C. Mrs. Vera Staton Smith, 83, died July 7, 2012. Funeral service will be held Friday 1 pm at the Hickory View Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Leonard Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the Carver Park Cemetery in Pinetops. She is survived by her husband, Randolph Smith of the home, one daughter, Vera Thompson of Rocky Mount. Three sons Willie Mitchell and Clarence Mitchell both of Rocky Mount and Johnny Williams of Wilson. Three stepsons, Ronnie Lee Mitchell, Charlie Ray Mitchell and James Arthur Mitchell of Rocky Mount. Five grandchildren, Three great-grandchildren. One brother, Willie \\'Bob\\' Battle, Jr. of Rocky Mount, one sister, Lethea Mae Lewis of Portsmouth, Virginia and a host of nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held Friday 12 noon until 1 pm at the church. The family will receive friends other times at 1725 Martin Luther King Drive, Rocky Mount.
