Ms. Woodie Knight Obituary Ms. Woodie Yvonne Knight was born on August 14, 1944 to the late Mildred Knight in Edgecombe County, NC. She attended the public schools of Edgecombe County and graduated from Conetoe High School in 1962. As a young girl, she grew up in Whites Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
Woodie was employed as a healthcare worker in Washington, DC and Edgecombe County. She was a diligent worker and loved babysitting her nieces and nephews whom she treated as though they were her own. Having a very big heart for everybodys children, she showed loved to them and they reciprocated that same love.
Woodie was a very thoughtful person who loved her family and provided for them to the utmost ability. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
On February 5, 2025 Woodie Yvonne Knight transitioned from labor to reward.
To rejoice in her memory and mourn her passing, she leaves her sons, Leslie Horton (Cherene) of Washington, DC and Stanley Horton (Melinda) of Tarboro, NC; her brothers, Deacon David Gray, Deacon Johnny Gray (Clara), Deacon Eric Gray, Pastor Roy Gray (Cozetta), Bobby Gray all of Tarboro, NC, Curtis Gray (Diane) of Austell, GA and William Gray (Veda) of Rocky Mount, NC; sister, Lossie Chism of Garner, NC; 5 grandchildren, special friends, Rosa Pitt and William Hart; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, February 15, 2025 at White's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Speed, North Carolina. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens, Tarboro.
A viewing will be held from 10:00AM -11:00AM, prior to the service at the church.
