Mr. LaKendrick Terell Powell, 36, of Rocky Mount, N.C. transitioned on May 24, 2023 at home. Services will be held on Sunday June 04, 2023 at 1:00PM at Whites Chapel Missionary Baptist Church 3679 NC Highway 122N, Speed, North Carolina with Rev. Linwood Euwell officiating and Rev. Tommy King, Eulogist. Burial will follow in the Eastlawn Memorial Gardens Tarboro, North Carolina. There will not be a public visitation at Dickens Funeral Service on Saturday June 03, 2023 but a Public Visitation will be held at Whites Chapel Missionary Baptist Church from 12:noon til 1:00PM ( one hour prior to the service) on June 04, 2023.
He leaves to cherish his beautiful memories, two sons, D’Marus Powell, Tarboro, North Carolina, and La’Royal Powell, Rocky Mount, North Carolina, his finance’Teri Barfield, of the home. His survivors also include his parents, Barbara Powell (Melvin), of Asheboro, North Carolina and Thomas and Ruby Hill of Speed, North Carolina, Three brothers Melvin Powell, Randleman, North Carolina, Demetrius Harrison, Tarboro, North Carolina, and Tamurus, Hill, Tarboro, North Carolina. Eight aunts , Rev. Ernestine (Melvin) Chance, Tarboro, North Carolina, Annie Pippen, his special aunt (whom he often referred to her as his mom) Tarboro, North Carolina, Gladys (Ronald) Williams, Queen, New York, Carolyn (Ervin) Harper, Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Dora Marie (Walter) Howard, Tarboro, North Carolina, Rev. Shirley Hill, Tarboro, North Carolina, Priscilla (Johnnie) Pettaway, Virginia Beach, Va., Mary Ausby, Raleigh, North Carolina and two great aunts Eva Lewis, Queens, New York and Dora Powell, Princeville, North Carolina. Four uncles, Freddie Powell, Harlem, New York, James (Lashaun) Powell, Washington, DC, David Harrison, Richmond, Va. and Jesse Ausby, Dunn, North Carolina. Three great uncles, Alton (Glenda) Powell, Paul (Vivian)Powell Rocky Mount, North Carolina and Linwood(Betty) Armston, Enfield, North Carolina. Two very special cousins whom he often referred to as his sister and brother were Angela Hammonds of Queens, New York, ,three nieces, three nephews, a best and committed friend Javon Cherry (Franko) and a host of cousins and friends.
